Wisconsin football: Over the past decade, the Heisman trophy has been awarded to a quarterback eight out of ten times. It has also been eight long years since a running back has come home with the title. This was in 2015 when Alamaba’s Derrick Henry had a historic junior year to get his hands on the coveted title.
Well, Wisconsin Badgers star Braelon Allen is looking to make history this year. According to one football analyst, this kid has what it takes to win the 2023 Heisman trophy.
Wisconsin Football: Braelon Allen Talked Up as Potential Heisman Candidate
Emory Hunt of CBS, who himself used to be a running back, recently made a bold prediction of what we should all expect from Allen this season. Most fans are looking forward to a big year for the 19-year-old in 2023, but not too many out there would be on the same boat as Hunt here:
“I’m tailing the running back here. You see that guy, he’s holding a football. Get it back to a [running] back,” Hunt said (h/t Ben Kenney of Badhers Wire). “Braelon Allen is going to go over 2000 yards with a healthy passing game. So you know, if Wisconsin is going over [8.5 wins], you know they love and live by the run game. I know Phil Longo wants to air it out but man, you have a big dog in the backfield…You give him more space to run the football based on what he was doing prior to that with stacked boxes, he’s going to run crazy.”
Man let’s get the @HeismanTrophy back to its rightful position..

For what it’s worth, Brealon Allen would potentially be just the third player in Wisconsin Badgers history to win the Heisman trophy.
Wisconsin Football: Quarterbacks Still Dominate the Pack
At this point, however, the oddsmakers aren’t exactly pinning their hopes on Brealon Allen. Unsurprisingly, quarterbacks are still dominating the pack when it comes to the frontrunners to bag the title.
BetMGM has USC’ Caleb Williams as the odds-on favorite to win the trophy. His +500 odds are far better than Jayden Daniels of LSU, who is currently listed +900. Rounding out the Top 3 is Texas’ Quinn Ewers who stands at +1000. All of the Top 14 players on the list are quarterbacks.
Braelon Allen’s odds are currently +6600, which obviously, aren’t very good. In fact, he’s just the third-ranked RB on the list, below TreVeyon Henderson of Ohio State (+4000) and Blake Corum of Michigan (+3000).
