Four weeks have already passed in the college football season. Wisconsin Football is currently in their bye week. They will not play until next Saturday against Rutgers. Kick-off will be 11 AM on Peacock.
The Big Ten season was in full force last week. This will be the case for the rest of the regular season. As we approach week five of the college football season, where do I rank Wisconsin Football with the rest of the Big Ten teams?
Week 5 Big Ten Rankings

- 1. Penn State
- 2. Ohio State
- 3. Michigan
- 4. Maryland
- 5. Wisconsin
- 6. Iowa
- 7. Rutgers
- 8. Minnesota
- 9. Illinois
- 10. Nebraska
- 11. Northwestern
- 12. Purdue
- 13. Michigan State
- 14. Indiana
Why Wisconsin Football Ranked 5?

After a few weeks of the rankings staying consistent, teams were moving after last week. Wisconsin Football did their job and got a 38-17 road win at Purdue. While Purdue will struggle this year, the Badgers did what they had to do and head to the bye week with some momentum.
After a 31-22 road loss at Washington State, Wisconsin Football has put together three good halves of football. It’s taken longer than most thought it would (myself included), but I’m beginning to like where this team stands. It also helps that the Big Ten West doesn’t look very good as a whole. I really believe Wisconsin has looked like the best team in the West despite not fully playing at their best yet.
Rest of the Big Ten Recap

After owning the number one spot every week, I had to move Michigan out of the top spot. It’s nothing they did after beating Rutgers 31-7 at home. It’s the fact Ohio State went on the road and beat Notre Dame 17-14. Penn State also destroyed Iowa at home 31-0. Michigan has also played a really soft schedule so far and it won’t get any harder for while.
Speaking of the Big Ten West, it was a disappointing showing for Iowa and Minnesota. Iowa finally had a chance to prove they would be the team to beat in the West. Instead, they put up less than 100 yards of offense and had a very poor showing in State College.
Minnesota has not been impressive in any of their four games so far. After blowing a 31-10 lead to Northwestern, the Gophers haven’t beaten a half way decent team yet. They get Louisiana this week followed by Michigan and Iowa. It could get ugly fast for the Gophers.
Wisconsin Football was looked to be in a three team race with the Hawkeyes and Gophers. With the schedule only getting harder for Minnesota and all of Iowa’s problems on offense, I think the Badgers are sitting in a better spot. If they take care of business, they could win the West with a few weeks left in the season.
