One recruit in the 2026 recruiting class the Wisconsin basketball staff has expressed interest in is excited for the next level of play.
Josh Manchester, a 6-foot-2-inch combo guard from Mount Horeb, has been impressing the Wisconsin staff with his ability on the court. Manchester has received interest from some big time basketball programs already, which could be a sign of what his future recruitment will look like. During a recent interview with Wisconsin Sports Heroics, Manchester revealed what he feels is going to be key to his recruitment moving forward.

Mount Horeb combo guard and 2026 recruit Josh Manchester has been a hot commodity in the recruiting class early on. Manchester currently does not hold any major offers, but has been in contact with Marquette, Minnesota, Virginia, and Wisconsin early in the process. As an in-state recruit, Manchester has taken a particular interest in the Marquette and Wisconsin basketball programs.
Manchester is a versatile guard that can score from nearly anywhere on the court, while also providing solid defense. The offensive potential outweighs the defensive potential in Manchester, but the recruit has worked hard to develop his game.
Early on in the process, Manchester stated, “It’s been great, really building great bonds with the coaches and it’s been awesome visiting each campus and watching practices.”

For Manchester, the recruitment process has largely been about finding the right staff fit for himself. when asked about what the recruit is looking for, Manchester responded, “I’m looking for coaches that want to build a relationship with me and care about their players and culture of the program.” The guard also added, “Also for them to be straight up and honest with me.”
The guard has been focused on building relationships and finding the correct program fit for himself as well. Manchester believes that the culture of a program a coach and their staff creates is the biggest factor to his eventual decision.
How Could Manchester Fit Into the Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Lineup?
For the Wisconsin basketball staff, finding a role for Manchester would not be hard because he plays a style of basketball that fits into the team. Manchester is a three-level scorer and cannot be left alone anywhere, including beyond the arc. The guard is also shifty off-ball, and find ways to either get a catch and shoot opportunity or slash the basket.
While his offensive talents would fit into the Wisconsin basketball squad, his defense would also be an incredible boost. Manchester is no slouch on defense and plays with a high motor when closing out or defending against opponents. The defense of Manchester has been underrated to say the least, and that is largely due to the fact that his defensive ability does not come in the form of blocks or steals.
