The Milwaukee Bucks with the 33rd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft selected forward Tyler Smith from the G-League Ignite. He is only 19 years old and last season averaged 13.9 PPG, 1.6 OREB, 3.5 DREB, and 1.2 APG.
Smith is 6’11” and weighs 224 lbs. It will be interesting to see how he will be used in the Milwaukee Bucks rotation this season if he does make the team out of training camp. General manager Jon Horst made a smarter selection with his second-round pick compared to the 23rd pick with A.J. Johnson on Wednesday night.
The Milwaukee Bucks could have used their first-round pick on Tyler Smith instead of A.J. Johnson. The Bucks have done extensive research on Smith and there was a different reaction this time around with this selection compared to the one the day before, but some still question what occurred in this NBA Draft.
Milwaukee Bucks Fans React To the Tyler Smith Selection In the 2024 NBA Draft
When the Utah Jazz selected center Kyle Filipowski 32nd in the 2024 NBA Draft, we had no idea what the Milwaukee Bucks were going to do. They could have done the funniest thing ever and taken Bronny James with that pick, but they decided not to.
This is how the Milwaukee Bucks fanbase reacted toward that selection:
No Center drafted…Were cooked

LOVE THIS PICK!!

So we have a coach who’s never displayed the desire to play young players yet we are drafting players like we are filling our G league roster. We have the best player in the world but refuse to support him with a cast of complementary players.

The fanbase does not seem to be pleased about what transpired during the 2024 NBA Draft. Will Tyler Smith be able to help the Bucks right away? It remains to be seen.
For those that are questioning about him helping right away, Yahoo Sports Krysten Peek chimed in and said on her Twitter page about the pick:
“Tyler Smith will bring additional size and floor spacing as a 3-point shot threat in an already established Bucks team with a lot of different options offensively. It’s the clear the Bucks are focused on adding some youth and upside to the roster with their two picks.”
Milwaukee has to make other moves to the roster before the start of the 2024-2025 season. General manager Jon Horst will have to make moves in either free agency or through trades to make this team younger and better.
