The Wisconsin basketball team walked away with a win against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Senior Night despite an interesting sequence.
Transfer guard AJ Storr was seen kissing the Kohl Center floor where the Badgers logo lies shortly after Senior forward Tyler Wahl did so. An action that is typically done when leaving a program has sparked some controversy regarding the future of Storr at the Wisconsin basketball program. Could Storr have played his final game in Madison, or was this just a gesture towards his teammate?
Wisconsin Basketball Guard AJ Storr Kisses Kohl Center Floor Despite Not Being a Senior
After contributing to a 78-66 win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights a night ago, Wisconsin basketball sent off their lone Senior Tyler Wahl in a great way. Wahl checked out of the game with a minute left and kissed the Badgers logo at mid-court before returning to the bench. Shortly after the game, Wahl was embraced by his teammates at half-court and something rather odd occurred.
Sophomore guard AJ Storr got down on his knees and kissed the Badgers logo as well, which is often a sign of leaving a program. Storr has led Wisconsin basketball in scoring this season with 16.2 points per game while shooting 43.6% from the floor for the Badgers. Storr has been a huge part of the success of the program this season, but perhaps has played his final game in the Kohl Center.
Following the game during the media questioning, Storr claimed that he had only kissed the court as a way of saying goodbye to Wahl. Storr was the only other player to do so.
Will Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Return Their Top Scorer Next Season?
While the season is still not over yet, many players across collegiate basketball have already begun thinking about their next step. For the talented guard Storr, the future must certainly be an interesting concept considering the amount of options the guard has. Storr can stay in Madison and play for Wisconsin basketball again next season, test the NBA waters, or re-enter the transfer portal in search of a payday.
Money might be a huge factor for many players, but for someone like Storr success is also a massive part of his decision. Storr chose to leave St. John’s and attend Wisconsin not for money, because he had larger NIL offers, but because he wants to win games. With Wisconsin basketball struggling to meet expectations this season, Storr could be someone who chooses to leave the program.
Will AJ Storr Enter the NBA Draft or Will He Join the Transfer Portal Once Again?
After transferring from St. Johns to Wisconsin basketball, fans had hoped Storr would be here to stay, but after the season he had it might be a different story. Storr transferred to Wisconsin to compete for the Big Ten Conference title, which they could still win in the tournament, but the team has fallen below expectations.
For Storr, the draft could be an option although he would likely not find himself selected in the first round, if at all. While Storr is talented, he is not quite NBA-ready just yet, which is why the guard might test himself in the transfer portal once again. Storr has greatly improved his game in a year, which could result in quite the payday for him to join another program.
