For awhile, we knew the non-conference opponents for the Wisconsin Basketball team. Today, the Big Ten announced each team’s conference opponents as well as the dates. This means the entire Wisconsin Basketball schedule for 2023-2024 is set. Between the difficulty of the Big Ten as a whole and the non-conference opponents. here are my early thoughts on the schedule.
We've got a B1G-time schedule 👀📅🏀
The 2023-24 Big Ten schedule is set! Conference play tips off December 5.

The First Week of December for Wisconsin Basketball is Brutal
We are going to learn a lot about this Wisconsin Basketball team early on. From December 2-9, they have three non-conference games. Two on the road and one at home. They will host Marquette on December 2. The Badgers will then travel to Michigan State on December 5 and then go to Arizona to take on the Wildcats on December 9.
Michigan State is coming into the season as a national championship contender and is seen as one of the bets teams in the country. Arizona is always a contender as well. Marquette is the rivalry game and should be as good of a game as there’s been between these teams in a long time.
The Beginning of January Sets up Nice
I always like to see how a team sets up in the beginning of January and the end of February. These are the times of the year where a team can gain or lose all their momentum. That matters come the rest of the regular season and the post-season.
Wisconsin Basketball has a nice set-up to begin the new year. They host Iowa and Nebraska, travel to Ohio State, host Northwestern, and travel to Penn State. Penn State and Iowa have a ton of production to replace from last season. Ohio State can still be a wild card and Nebraska I don’t see as a Big Ten title contender this year.
Wisconsin Basketball Has a Tough Stretch to End the Regular Season
For as good as the early stretch is, the schedule is very tough to end the regular season. Wisconsin will host Maryland, travel to Indiana, host Illinois and Rutgers, then end the year at Purdue.
Purdue has cemented themselves as one of the two best teams in the conference. Maryland and Illinois return a lot of production from last year and could be top five teams in the conference. Indiana is sort of a wild card, but playing at Assembly Hall is never easy for any opponent to step foot in.
We now know the schedule and the opponents. Now it’s just time ti tip off the College Basketball season!
