The Wisconsin Badgers are hoping to improve after a disappointing 2023. After an exciting offseason, the first year under head coach Luke Fickell saw some growing pains. However, Fickell and his staff are making sure that there is no shortage of talent in Madison. Former North Carolina linebacker Sebastian Cheeks announced he has committed to the Badgers.

Wisconsin Badgers Land LB Sebastian Cheeks From Transfer Portal
The 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker has spent the last two years with the Tar Heels. Cheeks didn’t see the field a lot in North Carolina. A shoulder injury during his freshman year forced him to redshirt. Then in his redshirt freshman year, he played in eight games and had minimal stats. However, the talent is clearly there and sometimes it takes a change of scenery to unlock potential. Both Cheeks and the Badgers are hoping that a move to Madison will be fruitful for both sides.
Upgrading At Linebacker
Fickell is trying to upgrade his linebackers in the offseason. FCS All-American linebacker Jahsiah Galvan already committed to the team last week and now Cheeks will join him. The Badgers want to try and find linebackers that will fit their defensive scheme and the portal is the perfect place. In the current college football landscape, recruiting the portal is key to success, and Fickell and his staff are working it to perfection. It helps that the Big Ten is growing and becoming one of the premier conferences in all of college football.
Can the Wisconsin Badgers make some noise in the Big Ten next year? It will not be easy with more great teams joining the conference but Wisconsin is hoping that with the addition of talent and continuity of the coaching staff, they can compete.
