The Wisconsin Badgers will begin their quest to a Big Ten title this week. However, this past Friday, the Badgers named their team captains for the upcoming 2023 season. These are the first team captains under first-year head coach Luke Fickell.

The captains for the 2023 season for the Badgers are quarterback Tanner Mordecai and wide receiver Chimere Dike on the offensive side of the football and linebackers Maema Njongmeta and Marty Strey on the defensive side. These are a very good set of captains for Wisconsin for the 2023 season.

Tanner Mordecai, a season ago, was the quarterback at SMU. He completed 288 passes for 3,524 yards and 33 touchdowns last season. The Wisconsin Badgers feel confident heading into this season because of him.

Chimere Dike last season caught 47 passes for 689 yards receiving and six touchdowns last season. He hopes he can be effective for Wisconsin in his senior year.

Last season, redshirt senior Maema Njongmeta led Wisconsin in tackles with 95, including 11.5 tackles, and recorded 3.5 sacks. He also picked off a pass for the Wisconsin Badgers and will look to have a similar production for them this season.

Strey, a grad student from Sun Praire, did not play last season but has appeared in 12 games with the Badgers since 2018. In 2021, he only appeared in six games and is looking to make a massive impact this season for Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Badgers appear to be ready to get the season going. They are ranked 19th in the country and could potentially be a sleeper across college football this season. Wisconsin is ready to be a contender once again in the BIG10 Conference. This season is going to ride a lot on running back Braelon Allen and this new air raid offense led by quarterback Tanner Mordecai.
