Wisconsin Badgers: Luke Fickell Makes Announcement Regarding NFL Coach Joining Program

The Wisconsin Badgers Football team will be going into the 2024 season with high expectations.  Luke Fickell’s first season as a head coach did not live up to the hype.  The Badgers finished 7-6 on the year (5-4 in Big Ten play), and capped their season with a bowl loss to LSU.  Fickell did, however, bring the Axe back to Madison.

The disappointing 2023 season has not extinguished expectations moving forward.  Now there are reports that the Badgers could be getting a huge influence on the sidelines, specifically their defense.

The Wisconsin Badgers Could Have NFL Influence On The Sidelines In 2024

According to Badgers beat reporter Colten Bartholomew:

Fickell’s quote re: Vrabel on Wilde And Tausch

“I’m not sure what the future really looks like, but I know that we’re going to have a visitor here that’s gonna spend a little bit of time, hopefully, around us coming up in the spring. See how deep we can get involved here.”

Badgers coach Luke Fickell says that he believes former Titans coach (and Fickell’s college teammate/roommate, and former ast. coach) Mike Vrabel will be around Wisconsin football in some capacity this year.

In preparation for spring ball, Wisconsin Badgers have begun their offseason program, where both the personnel and coaching staff have been revamped.

The Titans let Vrabel go recently after six seasons with the team, and he has been linked to several NFL head coaching and defensive coordinator positions this offseason, but hasn’t made any decsion as of yet.

In addition to being roommates at Ohio State, Fickell and Vrabel coached together with the Buckeyes from 2011-13 before Vrabel moved to the NFL.

At least for some part of the spring (and hopefully longer), both coaches will be on the same sideline again, this time at Wisconsin.
