The Wisconsin Badgers are not done getting players from the transfer portal. Luke Fickell and his staff have already proven they can attract big-name players to Madison. Recruiting also has a snowball effect. The more recruits that come, the more attractive the destination is for other recruits. The Wisconsin Badgers have added a versatile defensive back, Jason Maitre.

Wisconsin Badgers Add Jason Maitre
While the young talent that Fickell and his staff have been acquiring is great, it may not be a huge help this season. Young teams often struggle against more seasoned teams. The Badgers are looking to add that veteran talent through the transfer portal. They have already found a veteran QB and now it seems they have found a veteran defensive back. He has played for five years at Boston College and is coming to Madison as a grad transfer. In his career he has three interceptions and 19 passes defended. The Wisconsin Badgers are getting a good one in Jason Maitre.

Versatility Is A Strength
Jason Maitre is able to play anywhere on the field. According to PFF, he has logged 2,155 career snaps at Boston College. 700 came at free safety, 824 came as the slot corner, and 438 were as the boundary corner. He can move and play anywhere on the field including in the box to stop the run. Against most Big Ten teams, stopping the run is an essential part of the defense. Jason Maitre brings veteran leadership to the team that cannot be quantified. Wisconsin has gotten a lot of young defensive backs to commit and having a presence like Maitre around is going to be very helpful.
