The Wisconsin Badgers football staff has landed yet another dynamic three-star recruit in their 2024 recruiting class.
Xavier Lucas, a three-star defensive back from Florida, has chose the Badgers over Iowa, Illinois, and a handful of other schools. Lucas had recently become a major target for the Badgers after spending much of his recruitment behind the scenes. Now, Wisconsin has added another strong, intelligent defender to their already strong class.

The Florida native Lucas announces his commitment to the Badgers after the staff made a late push for the recruit. Wisconsin had been eagerly searching for big, strong defensive backs that have the versatility to play multiple different roles on defense. The long defensive back has the exact tools that the Badgers have been looking for, and his commitment comes at just the right time.
With Lucas joining the class for the Badgers, the recruit marks the fifth defensive back to commit to Wisconsin in the class. Lucas is also the 21st commitment for the Badgers as he joins the 23rd ranked recruiting class.
Lucas, who is also an accomplished track runner, is a blazing fast defender with killer instincts. The big defensive back can catch up to any player on the field and lay clean, devastating hits. Lucas is a strong tackler and finisher for his size. The defensive back has experience playing as both a corner back and a safety, but currently Lucas is considering playing safety at the collegiate level. The Badgers love the speed and coverage ability that the defense provides.

With the commitment of Lucas, the Badgers are arguably done with their 2024 recruiting class now. On the defensive side of the ball, the Wisconsin Badgers football staff filled many of the holes they were looking to fill, such as edge rusher and corner back.
Now, with Lucas on board for the Badgers, the recruiting focus should shift towards the 2025 class mainly.
