The Wisconsin Badgers football staff has been working hard to land more commitments in their 2025 class after hosting plenty of recruits.
One particular recruit, four-star edge rusher Chris Burgess, has been a priority target for the Badgers. Burgess attended and participated in the recent Junior Day festivities in Madison. The elite defender walked away from the visit with a new look on the university, and a new appreciation for the program.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Staff Impresses During Top Edge Rushers’ Recent Visit
The Junior Day festivities for the Badgers were a major hit as Wisconsin has begun to shift their focus towards the 2025 recruiting class. Wisconsin was able to get a close look at the recruits skills and attitudes while letting loose and having fun. For the Badgers priority target Burgess, the visit also served as an excellent chance to experience the campus and the staff.
Burgess, a 6-foot-4-inch edge rusher hailing from Illinois has been one of the top names to come out of the 2025 recruiting class thus far. Burgess is ranked as the fourth recruit in the state and the 20th defensive lineman overall. The recruit also appears as the 179th ranked prospect nationally, which makes him one of the highest-ranked targets for the Wisconsin Badgers football staff.
Burgess currently holds 29 total scholarship offers from schools like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Colorado, and Ohio State. The talented defender is a hot commodity in the recruiting scene, which should make for a thought battle to land him in the future. Thus far in his recruitment, Notre Dame and Illinois have stood out as the top two schools for Burgess early on. However, after his recent visit to Madison, the Badgers could perhaps shift the recruits’ list.
Can the Wisconsin Football Staff Land Four-Star Edge Rusher Chris Burgess?
While the recruitment process is still fairly new to many 2025 recruits, Burgess has been highly recruited for quite some time. The defender is still making his way around and visiting various campuses, so it does not seem like a commitment to anywhere is imminent. However, what is imminent is another boatload of scholarship offers that is bound to come the recruits’ way.
The talented edge rusher Burgess has an exceptional balance between being a tenacious player and being a smart player. Burgess understands how to play intensely without losing himself or his focus, which is the exact mentality that the Wisconsin football staff is looking for. Burgess is bound to make a difference wherever he plays in the future, but the big question is where he will end up going.
As a Junior, Burgess still has plenty of time to develop his skills and take more recruiting visits. Likely for the four-star recruit, this is just the very beginning.
