Under the leadership of head coach Luke Fickell, the Wisconsin Badgers are showing a strong commitment to recruiting talent from Ohio, particularly from Cincinnati. It’s an interesting turn of events, but it makes sense given that Fickell, whose tenure at Cincinnati concluded in 2022 before he took the helm at Wisconsin, continues to leverage his recruitment connections in Ohio as he builds the team’s future.
Jai’mier Scott includes Wisconsin Badgers on His List
This strategy is becoming evident with recent developments. Jai’mier Scott, a four-star athlete from the class of 2025, has included the Wisconsin Badgers in his top eight school choices. Scott, who hails from Cincinnati and plays for Mt. Healthy High School, is a noteworthy prospect. He ranks as the No. 323 player in the class of 2025 according to 247Sports, the No. 19 athlete nationally, and the No. 12 recruit from Ohio.
He’s racked up plenty of accolades including first team All-District, third team All-State, first team All-City, and first team All-Conference.

Wisconsin finds itself in a competitive list for Scott, alongside Michigan, Tennessee, Illinois, Penn State, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, and Louisville. This attention from a top Ohio recruit is a positive sign for Wisconsin’s recruitment strategy under Luke Fickell.
Jai’mier enjoyed a great high school season this past year. He had 53 tackles, 2 interceptions, 817 yards and 9 touchdowns. He’s listed as both a cornerback and a wide receiver, giving the Wisconsin Badgers options as to how best to deploy him.
Currently, Wisconsin’s class of 2025 is ranked No. 14 nationally with four commitments. This upcoming class is particularly significant for Fickell as he aims to establish his brand and style of program at Wisconsin. The focus on Ohio, especially Cincinnati, is a strategic move that could pay dividends in strengthening the team with top-tier talent.

As the recruitment season unfolds, it will be interesting to see how Wisconsin’s strategy under Fickell’s leadership will shape the team’s future. With Ohio being a key focus with Luke Fickell’s connections, the Wisconsin Badgers could well be on their way to securing a strong group of players for the 2025 season and beyond.
