The 2022 Milwaukee Brewers season is over. Even though there are two games left to play, the Brewers have been officially eliminated from playoff contention.
Milwaukee came back and won in extra innings Monday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks. It was unfortunately too little and too late. The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Houston Astros, and cemented their first playoff appearance since 2011. For the Brewers, this is the first time in five seasons that they will not make the playoffs. It is also the first time Christian Yelich has not made the playoffs since joining the Brewers.
Christian Yelich Post-Game Interview
Yelich was interviewed after last night’s game. His answers were honest, emotional and definitely gave a little insight on how the team has been feeling. After the best 50 game start in franchise history, the Brewers blew a division lead and never truly recovered or hit their stride after the All-Star break. A frustrating trade deadline also seemed to affect the team more than it should have.
Number 22 shared his thoughts after the team was officially eliminated.
There was a lot to unpack in Christian Yelich’s comments after the Brewers were eliminated from playoff contention. Here’s a portion in which he talks about the team’s struggle to find an identity, the impact of the Trade Deadline and how much it hurts to come up short. pic.twitter.com/CRaqfy6eg1

Brandon Woodruff also shared some thoughts after the game. No video, but had a good point about the team and team chemistry many people have been concerned about this season.
Brandon Woodruff: "This last month, we had a lot of fun when we brought in some the stuff like the ping-pong table. It just brought us together. Looking back now, I wish we would have started that a long time ago."

Looking To 2023
Brewers fans should expect anything and everything this upcoming off-season. Milwaukee needs several positions bolstered, and their top prospects are close to being MLB-ready. Is this week the last time we see Brandon Woodruff or Corbin Burnes in a Brewers uniform? Will Kolten Wong be back next year? With so many outfield prospects coming up, will players like Tyrone Taylor and Hunter Renfroe still be around?
We could very well see a new second baseman, third baseman, catcher and pitching rotation in 2023. Hopefully, the front office can recover from this year’s poor choices and roster building. The Milwaukee Brewers have the foundation and upcoming talent to compete for the NL Central for at least the next half decade. It is up to them to seize it. Yelich and Woodruff’s words are just the beginning of the players, coaches and front office commenting on this disappointing season. The front office has a lot to explain and share before free agency begins.
