Earlier this season the Milwaukee Brewers promoted their trio of young outfield prospects to Triple-A simultaneously. Those prospects were Garrett Mitchell, Sal Frelick, and Joey Wiemer. The first prospect to be promoted to the big leagues out of that trio was the first round draft pick from the 2020 class in Garrett Mitchell!
Mitchell officially appeared in his first big league game on Saturday, August 27. The Brewers had a big league,so manager Craig Counsell had him play the field late in the game. He did not get an at-bat in that game.
A day later, Mitchell got his first major league start in center field. He also collected his first big league hit and RBI! His hit in the fourth inning brought in two runners and he advanced to second base during the play!

Mitchell’s family was in attendance for the game and they went absolutely nuts as he collected his first hit.
If this doesn’t make you smile, nothing will.

A player’s first major league hit is a big deal. It was nice to see him get it during his first major league game with his family watching.
Mitchell figures to split playing time with Tyrone Taylor going forward. Hopefully Mitchell can provide just the spark this Brewers team needs in order to get back on track!
