Tony Moll was a former Packers offensive lineman, who was in the fifth round of the 2006 NFL draft to be the starting right guard for the season opener. He started in all 16 games after only one year of offensive line experience in college, because he was a tight end beforehand.
He played with the Packers from 2006 to 2008, both as a guard and tackle. In a YouTube video today, he went back to that time and had some interesting things to say about his time with Aaron Rodgers, so I wanted to highlight the best bit here.
Tony reflects on Aaron Rodger’s rise to stardom:
In 2007, the Green Bay Packers still lead by Brett Farve at the time, went up against the Dallas Cowboys. Both teams had the best records in the NFC at the time, so this was a big game.
Early into the game however, Brett Farve got hurt, and Rodgers had to step up big. ” Everybody was like okay, he’s proven himself and we’re good going forward “, the offensive lineman said.
I like this bit because it’s always interesting to reflect when legends are made, and to reflect on the moments in history that create stars in the most important moments of a team’s season. You can watch the full uninterrupted interview here if you want to hear more of the discussion.
