The Green Bay Packers appear to be moving on from backup running back AJ Dillon in the 2024 offseason. With questions on who they will grab to help support the run game alongside superstar Aaron Jones. Whether it be free agency or the draft, it is more than likely the Green Bay Packers will pursue further depth at the running back position. According to NFL insider Mathew Berry, the Packers potentially have their second running back on the roster.

Mathew Berry has an annual tradition of talking about things he has heard from various team sources at the NFL Combine. For the 2024 NFL combine, Berry had some interesting news regarding the Green Bay Packers running back room.
” Expect the team to move on from A.J. Dillon this off-season. They’ll keep Aaron Jones and likely draft a RB early on Day 3, but Emmanuel Wilson will get a shot at a real role behind Jones. They like him.”
An interesting bit of news, especially considering he likely heard this from a Green Bay Packers front office member. Is this surprising? To some surely, Emmanuel Wilson is a raw prospect. But given what he has shown, it makes perfect sense.
Emanuel Wilson’s Flashes Of Talent
Emanuel Wilson was an undrafted free agent that quickly caught on with the Green Bay Packers. The running back was a standout in his Division Two college and translated success quickly in the NFL.
In the 2023 preseason, Emanuel Wilson broke out an 80-yard touchdown run that displayed many impressive traits and turned heads. and of his 21 preseason snaps, only two were stopped for a loss. He only found 14 attempts in his regular season campaign but made the most of them averaging over 6 yards per carry, to go along with 4 catches.
It makes sense that the Green Bay Packers would be excited for Emanuel Wilson to take more snaps in the 2024-25 season.
