Justin Fields has been the biggest topic of discussion since the Super Bowl. The Bears QB has been rumored to be replaced by one Caleb Williams, who has his hands all over the 1st overall pick when the draft comes in April.
In the last week, there’s been lots of speculation about where Fields will end up. Will he play in Atlanta or Pittsburgh? Or will he just stay in Chicago while they trade away the pick but for draft capital?
In a division where the Vikings and Lions have won it the last 2 years, and the Packers are back on track to dominate once again with their new overlord in Jordan Love, the Bears need to figure things out immediately. Fields hasn’t been the answer, but he hasn’t been the problem either.
Regardless, all the media hype and pandemonium has certainly gotten to Fields, as it would anyone else in that position. He recently went on the St. Brown brothers podcast to get some things off his chest; these are the biggest takeaways Packers fans should get from that interview.
Takeaway #1 – The Bears And Justin Fields Are On Track For A Potential Divorce
While Justin didn’t come right out and say it, the Bears aren’t looking like they’ll be bringing him back next year.
The St. Brown brothers certainly press Fields to answer multiple questions regarding his feelings and his status for next year. Justin laughed a lot of the questions off but definitely seemed a little nervous at the same time.
Justin did confirm that he still wants to play for the Bears and, once again, refused to talk about any discussions involving him playing somewhere else next season.
Takeaway #2 – But What Justin Fields Unfollowing The Bears?
Fields admitted that he did unfollow the Bears as well as other football-related pages, but only because he doesn’t want to think about football over the next few weeks. In particular, so he can pay attention to basketball.
Yeah, if that seems far-fetched, that’s cause it is. He was caught following the Falcons before his interview, and the St. Brown brothers inquired why Justin follows not only them but Kyle Pitts too.
Fields came up with quite a few excuses, but everyone who can read between the lines knows exactly what he’s doing. Whether he ends up in Atlanta or somewhere else, only time will tell in that regard. We’ll see.
Takeaway #3 – How Should Packers Fans Feel About The Interview
First, disgust. Two Bears and one Lions player is an ugly combination for Green Bay fans everywhere.
Beyond that though, it depends on what Packers fans truly think about Fields and Caleb Williams. Fields have done poorly against the Packers, so perhaps Packers fans should be depressed he’s leaving. With that being said, it doesn’t matter who’s behind center in Chicago – everyone knows they’ll probably mess things up as always.
