After an early playoff exit, the Phoenix Suns have officially moved on from head coach Monty Williams. In two straight years, the Suns have gone out in embarrassing fashion, getting blown out in both elimination games. Despite having Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Chris Paul, the Suns failed to make the conference finals. Should the Milwaukee Bucks target Williams?

Milwaukee Bucks Interested In Monty Williams?
It was reported earlier that the Bucks were keeping an eye on the Williams situation with the Suns. Even if he was under contract with the Suns they could have hired him but it would have taken draft capital. Now, the Bucks can just sign him outright. Despite the playoff heartbreak, Williams has led the Suns to successful seasons. Last season they had the best regular season record and came in as the number-one seed in the west. While many may point to his failures with the Suns, I think a lot of it was not his fault.

Unlucky Breaks
Last season, there was something up with Chris Paul at the end of the season. He didn’t look right. This season, injuries and a gutted roster made things challenging. The Durant trade was necessary but it completely gutted their roster. They had no bench. Then Paul and Deandre Ayton got injured during the series with the Nuggets. This caused Williams to have to play Durant and Booker huge minutes and they just looked worn out. These are all things that are out of Williams’ control. He has shown his ability to connect with players and lead them to wins.
The Milwaukee Bucks should absolutely bring Monty Williams in for an interview. They seem to be leaving no stone unturned so it would shock me if they didn’t at least give him a call.
