The Milwaukee Bucks have begun their search for a new head coach. Most people feel that it was time to move on from Mike Budenholzer and have a new voice in the locker room. The Bucks seem to be going for a high-profile candidate as they have been rumored to be in on Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson. Adrian Wojnarowski reported today that the Bucks are also interested in former Coach of the Year Scott Brooks.
ESPN Sources: The Milwaukee Bucks have secured permission to interview to Portland Trail Blazers assistant Scott Brooks for franchise’s head coaching job. Brooks has a 521-414 (.557) regular season and 49-48 (.505) playoff record in 12 seasons with Oklahoma City and Washington.

Milwaukee Bucks Get Permission To Interview Scott Brooks
Brooks does not lack a head coaching pedigree. He is most known for his time in Oklahoma City when he coached Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden. He won Coach of the Year in the 2010 season when the Thunder won 50 games which was a 28-game increase from the previous season. He then spent some time with the Washington Wizards before becoming an assistant for the Portland Trail Blazers under Chauncey Billups. He has an over .500 record in both the regular season and the playoffs.

Is He A Good Fit?
I don’t hate the fit but I’m also not in love. He feels like the vanilla ice cream of coaching hires. If there’s no other flavor, vanilla is great because I’m getting ice cream. However, if there are other options like chocolate chip cookie dough or rocky road, I’m picking that one ten times out of ten. I simply feel the Bucks can do better. While he took the Thunder to the Finals once, he never won and in his time with the Wizards, he didn’t do anything. My concern would be that the Bucks would be good in the regular season and then get bounced in the conference semifinals every year.
The Milwaukee Bucks will do their due diligence. Scott Brooks will be one of many that the team will interview. There are even rumors that they are interested in many current head coaches and may need to wait until the season is over to interview. The Bucks’ championship window is open and they need to find the right coach to lead them to another title.
