San Francisco 49ers star linebacker Fred Warner is ready for the challenge against quarterback Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night. Green Bay is the seventh seed in the NFC with a 9-8 record and San Francisco is the number one seed in the NFC with a 12-5 record.
The 49ers and the Packers met in the playoffs just two seasons ago with San Francisco coming out on top in that one 13-10. This matchup will be very different this time around. The 49ers had Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback in the last matchup and they have Brock Purdy in this one.
The Packers had Aaron Rodgers at quarterback in the last matchup and they have Jordan Love in this one. Fred Warner was on his “Warner House” podcast and he made a statement about the respect he has for the Packers and how the Dallas Cowboys didn’t. Warner said:
“Jordan Love played the game of his life in his playoff debut. He’s been phenomenal down the stretch. It’s gonna be a huge test for us this weekend. I’m not taking the Packers lightly. The Cowboys must’ve taken the Packers lightly.”
Jordan Love completed 16-of-21 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns when the Green Bay Packers took down the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Wild Card Round by a final score of 48-32. San Francisco’s defense is much different than Dallas’s defense.
Fred Warner Understands What It Will Take To Slow Down Jordan Love
Warner this season for the San Francisco 49ers recorded 132 tackles, 2.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, four interceptions, and 11 pass deflections. He also said on his podcast about facing Love this weekend by saying:
“We are going to have to put together a great week of preparation. I said from the start, whoever’s got to come into Levi’s [Stadium], bring them on.”
San Francisco is not scared of anyone. Green Bay is looking to pull off another upset against a team that is supposedly better than them. If Jordan Love manages to pull this one off against the 49ers, he will have done something that Aaron Rodgers never did when he was with the Packers and that is beat them in the postseason.
