Fans of the Green Bay Packers were exuberant when the team decided to place its franchise tag on Davante Adams. Using the tag was a move that the Packers had not made since 2010. Unfortunately, however, Davante Adams turned down every long-term extension offer that the Packers made. He refused to play under the tag, too, forcing the Packers to trade him. He ended up being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders for a first and second round pick. For Adams, it is a chance to play in front of his family, many of whom have not seen him play professionally in person. If one rumor is to be believed, Adams has been trying to get the Packers to send him to Las Vegas for the last few years.

Could This Rumor about Davante Adams Be True?
Listen, the chances of anyone outside of Davante Adams and the Packers front office knowing about what went on behind closed doors is slim to none. The problem that many people see with this rumor is clear from the onset. If Davante Adams wanted to leave the Green Bay Packers so badly years ago, why did he sign a four-year contract in 2018? Of course, “the past few years” could mean after 2018. However, it still does not make much sense.

Of course, the other huge question about this rumor is the reliability of the source, Derek Carr’s brother. Derek Carr is the quarterback of the Las Vegas Raiders and was Davante Adams’ quarterback at Fresno State. The two remained close friends throughout their NFL careers and are finally reunited. Could Derek Carr’s brother have known something no one else was aware of? I guess, but I also doubt it.
Remember, Aaron Rodgers Thought Davante Adams Was Coming Back to the Packers
Not too long ago, Aaron Rodgers signed a three-year $150 million extension with the Green Bay Packers. It was not until after the deal was signed that the Packers traded Davante Adams. This led a certain analyst who is always critical of Rodgers to claim that the Packers were tanking on purpose as an act of revenge. However, that is simply an asinine theory. In reality, the Packers had done everything that they could to retain Adams. In fact, they had offered him more money than he ended up getting from the Raiders. Even Rodgers stated that he thought they had done enough to bring Adams back. To me, that is the biggest indicator that this rumor is false.
