The Milwaukee Brewers went with a surprising first selection in the 2024 MLB Draft when they selected 17 year old Braylon Payne. At 34th overall they chose a polished college bat who has massive power as they selected Blake Burke out of the University of Tennessee.

Across three NCAA seasons at Tennessee Blake Burke belted 50 home runs and had a 1.072 OPS. The left-handed hitting and throwing first baseman has 70 grade power and went viral earlier this year when he smashed a 479 foot home run that left his bat at 114 MPH.

Blake Burke was a National Champion with the Tennessee Volunteers.

The 2024 College World Series winners were the Tennessee Volunteers. Blake Burke played a significant role in their success. He also is the first Volunteers player drafted by the Brewers since 2016. Garrett Stallings was the last Tennessee player taken by Milwaukee.
Six Tennessee Volunteer players have been selected in the first round since 2020.

Since 2020 six Volunteer players have been taken in the first round. They are: Garrett Crochet in 2020, Jordan Beck in 2022, Drew Gilbert in 2022, Chase Dollander in 2023, Christian Moore in 2024, and Blake Burke.
