Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers just won his FOURTH NFL MVP award! That’s good enough to move into second most all-time in league history. Current MVP standings look like this:
- Peyton Manning – 5
- Aaron Rodgers – 4
- Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Jim Brown – 3
- Joe Montana, Kurt Warner, Steve Young – 2
- Everyone else – 1
But where do each of Rodgers’ four MVP seasons rank in his own career? Read on to find out.
#4: 2021
Aaron Rodgers’ 2021 season was incredible, to say the least. It started with a rough outing in week one against the Saints, but #12 never looked back after that. He was playing his best football at the end of the season, which seemingly locked up the award:
Aaron Rodgers to end the 2021 season:
5 straight games completing 70+ percent of passes, throwing multiple TD passes and zero INTs and finishing with a passer rating of 110.0 or higher.
Last 5 totals: 75.3 completion percentage, 14 TDs, 0 INTs, 127.0 passer rating.

Regular Season Stats:
- 336 completions out of 531 attempts (68.9% completion rate)
- 4,115 yards
- 37 pass TDs
- 101 rush yards
- 3 rushing TDs
- 4 INTs
- 111.9 passer rating
That’s 10 total touchdowns for every one interception.
Season Record: 13-4
Season Result: #1 seed, lost in the Divisional Round to San Francisco
As amazing as this season was, Rodgers accounted for the least amount of yards and was tied for his lowest total TD count in any of his four MVP seasons. Not to mention, the way this season ended left a sour taste in our mouths. We understand this is a regular season award and that the Packers have never won a Super Bowl in any of the four years Rodgers won the MVP, but this season felt different.
#3: 2014
2014 was the year that the MVP award came down to a two man race: Aaron Rodgers vs. JJ Watt. Rodgers ended up with 31 votes and Watt had 13. Tony Romo and Demarco Murray also received a few.
Six years ago, Aaron Rodgers was awarded the MVP award for the 2014 #NFL Season. Many thought JJ Watt was the rightful MVP…

Season Record: 12-4
Season Result: #2 seed, lost in the NFC Championship Game to Seattle
This season was yet another dominant performance by Aaron Rodgers through the air. Nearly 4,400 yards, 38 TDs, and only five INTs is absolutely ridiculous. His QB rating of 112.2 at the end of the season was second only to… himself, in 2011. Beating out a defensive player who scored five total TDs, had 20.5 sacks, and was an absolute menace all year long was nothing short of incredible. Unfortunately, this season ended with one of the worst losses to swallow in Packers’ postseason history. If only Brandon Bostick would have blocked on the onside kick…
#2: 2020
In 2020, Aaron Rodgers received 44 votes from the 50-member Associated Press panel. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was second with four votes, and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes received the remaining two. This year was an absolute clinic by Matt LaFleur and Aaron Rodgers on offense.
Regular Season Stats:
- 372 completions out of 526 attempts (70.7% completion percentage)
- 4,299 passing yards
- 48 passing TDs
- 5 INTs
- 121.5 passer rating
- 149 rushing yards
- 3 rushing TDs
Season Record: 13-3
Season Result: #1 seed, lost in the NFC Championship to Tampa Bay
2020 TD-INT ratio leaders: 1. Aaron Rodgers – 9.6 . . . . . . 2. Patrick Mahomes – 6.3. Aaron was in a league of his own in so many regards during this season. He had 14 games of 100+ QBR, and 10 games of 120+ QBR, both of which are NFL records.
However, even with all the fire power and schemes the offense had in 2020, the Buccaneers came into Green Bay and punched the Packers in the mouth from the start. Remember the Hail Mary given up by Kevin King to end the first half…? Sigh.
#1: 2011
Aaron Rodgers’ 2011 season will forever go down as one of the greatest quarterback performances in NFL history. What he and the offense did that year was nearly unmatchable. Over three consecutive games, Rodgers went:
24-30, 335 yards, three TDs
21-26, 247 yards, four TDs
250 yards, four TDs
Total: 79% comp, 832 yards, 11 TDs, 146.6 rating. The Packers scored 123 points over those three games. Absolutely insane!
Regular Season Stats:
- 343 completions out of 502 attempts (68.3% completion percentage)
- 4,643 yards
- 45 passing TDs
- 6 INTs
- 122.5 passer rating (NFL record)
- 257 rush yards
- 3 rushing TDs
Regular season record: 15-1
Season result: #1 seed, lost in the Divisional Round to the New York Giants
Aaron Rodgers earned NFC Offensive Player of the Month awards in September, October, and November. He was also named FedEx Air Player of the Week six times (weeks 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 13). In week four against the Denver Broncos, Rodgers became the only quarterback in NFL history to record over 400 passing yards with four touchdown passes, while also rushing for two touchdowns in the same game.
And yet, after all of that, the eventual Super Bowl Champions came into Green Bay and kicked the Packers in the gut. I still remember Brandon Jacobs scampering into the end zone to put the game out of reach and sending Green Bay home. Still hurts.
In Conclusion:
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for Aaron Rodgers to come back to Green Bay for one more year, not win the MVP award, and instead win the Super Bowl. What do you say?
