Allen Lazard has a pretty cool new bobblehead
Allen Lazard was a godsend to the Green Bay Packers offense in Week 2. Lazard, who had been battling injury during the early part of the regular season, was able to help open up the Packers’ offense against the Bears. He’s expected to be the Packers’ number one wide receiver this season. With his talent becoming recognized nationally, Lazard received the honor of having a new bobblehead made of his figure.
The bobblehead will be the first made of Lazard. The Packers’ fifth-year wide receiver has the nickname “Alien Lizard,” which Lazard acknowledges proudly on his Twitter page. The Milwaukee-based National Bobblehead Hall of Fame released the bobblehead on Friday that references his nickname.
On the bobblehead’s bottom are two lizards sporting Packers colors. The bobblehead is also going virtual. Per Adam Rogan of the Quad City Times, the bobblehead can be used to pull up real-time statistics:
Despite the classic look, these new bobbleheads also include new technology. Thanks to a partnership with BobblesGalore.com, anyone with a smartphone can “scan” the Lazard bobblehead with the augmented reality “AR Bobbles” application. The app will then recognize the bobblehead as Lazard’s, and pull up a page with Lazard’s statistics and highlights.
Lazard could have a special season
This is a good year for a bobblehead of Lazard to be released. Lazard will be a prominent feature in the Packers’ offense this season. He caught two passes for 13 yards in his 2022 regular-season debut, but those numbers don’t tell the whole story. Lazard is coming back from an injury, and his presence on the field helped to open up the passing game that was anemic without him in Week 1.
Lazard is still working his way back from the ankle injury. He did not participate in Thursday’s practice. The Packers’ passing offense will need him to be healthy against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3. Currently, four wide receivers are on the injury report.
