The Packers went into Jacksonville looking to start the 2021 season on a high note, putting an offseason full of drama behind them. However, they were “absolutely embarrassed,” per Matt LaFleur, in all facets of the game by the Saints Sunday afternoon.
Here are seven facts from today’s game that no one would have believed before the game started.
#1: Jordan Love converted the Packers’ first third down conversion of the game… in the fourth quarter.
#2: Jameis Winston threw five touchdowns and zero interceptions. Aaron Rodgers threw zero touchdowns and two picks.
#3: Randall Cobb’s first catch back as a Packer came from Jordan Love.
#4: Green Bay, the NFL’s top offense in 2020, scored the fewest points (so far) of any team in the league Week 1.
#5: Jameis Winston threw as many touchdowns (5) against the Packers as Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers, and Justin Herbert COMBINED today.
#6: The Saints finished the game with more points (38) than Aaron Rodgers’s passer rating (32.8).
#7: The Packers scored the fewest points EVER in a game (3) that Aaron Rodgers started and did not leave early due to injury.
The Packers have a long week ahead of them to get ready for their next game. The Lions are set to come into Green Bay for Monday Night Football at Lambeau on September 20th. Let’s hope the Packers rack up unbelievable stats that favor them against Detroit, en route to their first victory of the season. Go Pack Go!
