The Green Bay Packers have been in the market for a receiver all off-season. They lost Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling this offseason but brought in Sammy Watkins last week. It was announced that the Giants might be trying to trade former first-round pick Kardarius Toney but reports came out today of them trying to move a receiver the Packers should do their homework on. This is why the Packers SHOULD trade for Darius Slayton.

Slayton had 740 yards and 8 TDs as a rookie with 15.4 yards per catch, he then had 751 yards in his second season but fall out of favor last year.

Who is Darius Slayton?
Darius Slayton is a 25-year-old former 5th-round draft pick wide receiver from the 2019 season. He played college football at Auburn and jumped on the scene his rookie year when he had 740 yards and eight touchdowns. This was easily Slayton’s most productive year. Is the talent still there?

Is The Talent There?
The short answer is yes, the talent is there. Slayton ran a 4.39 40-yard dash and has a RAS of 8.91. He would come in and immediately compete for top-end playing time with this Packer team. Not only is he fast but he had an average depth of target at 13.4 yards. He is a pure outside target with 82.5 percent of his snaps coming from the outside. He also had back to back 700-yard season before a rough year in 2021.
What would it cost?
Slayton is cheap, he has one year left at 2.5 million before becoming a free agent. Not only is he cheap but if the Packers don’t re-sign him, they could receive a comp pick if he leaves for another team. If they did trade for him, it would most likely cost a 5th rounder, exactly what he was drafted with.
