De’vondre Campbell has had an ankle injury for a while now, as reported by my fellow writer Jordan Sigler of Wisconsin Sports Heroics. We also know from this report, that he was found with a scooter and a walking boot at his locker after practice earlier this week.
As bad of news this is, hearing from one of his teammates Quay Walker in an interview this afternoon, on stepping up in his absence, can be reassuring for some. There’s no secret that Quay is a very hungry and chippy player, as he is the only NFL player to be ejected twice in one season, this century.
He’s not just a chippy down in the dirt type of player, he also had seven passes defended on three forced fumbles while playing in every game last season. While his first season as an NFL player will be remembered as the historic ejections year, he seems hungry to get back to action.
Walker stepping on up:
” I just put it all on me “, the sophomore linebacker explained. ” It’s my turn to step up in that area and just be the guy with the Green Dot that makes the calls “, Walker stated.
This is the kind of mentality you want from your next man up, especially how he closes out this sentence. ” Do all that, take that leadership role, so I just take full advantage stepping up whenever he’s gone “, Walker went on to say.
If this is the mentality going forward for the linebacker core, I think cheese nation is in pretty good hands at least defensively.
