The Green Bay Packers can take a major step by defeating the Miami Dolphins on Christmas Day. Going into their Christmas Day matchup, the Packers needed four teams to lose to improve their chances. Well, Santa must have read our letter because they all did. The Lions lost to the lowly Panthers, the Commanders were beat soundly by the 49ers, the Seahawks lost to the Chiefs, and the Vikings did the Packers a favor by [barely] defeating the Giants. Of course, all of this will mean nothing if the Packers do not win out, which they must start to do with a win in Miami. In order to pull out the win, the run defense needs to be better than it has been all year. Packers Hall of Famer Gilbert Brown has an idea of how to fix it.

Gilbert Brown: Devonte Wyatt Needs to Play More
Green Bay Packers Hall of Famer and Super Bowl Champion Gilbert Brown knows a thing or two about stopping the run. On his weekly show, “The Graveyard Shift with Gilbert Brown,” he recapped the Packers’ win over the Rams by praising Kenny Clark and Devonte Wyatt. In just nine defensive snaps, Wyatt made his presence felt, combining on a sack and plugging up the middle of the line.

Brown was asked on the show if he believed that Wyatt should play more, perhaps taking snaps away from Dean Lowry. In response, Brown said, “Yeah, yeah I think so. Now listen, I love Season Salts [Dean Lowry], but this is do or die. You got to put your playmakers out on the field, and it’s time.”
Devonte Wyatt Has Played Well in Limited Snaps
Despite being a first round pick and the Packers’ struggles in the run game, Devonte Wyatt has only played 134 defensive snaps (17% of the total snaps) all season. However, whenever he has seen the field, he has done something to turn heads. One has to to wonder why the Packers just won’t give him the chance to play more.

As mentioned, the Packers need to win their last three games to have any realistic shot at the Playoffs. Improving the run defense will be important in doing so, which means Devonte Wyatt needs to play more.
