The Green Bay Packers have started to give their fans a sliver of hope when it comes to making the playoffs. Sitting at 6-8, the Packers find themselves just a few teams back from that seventh seed. This weekend the Packers have a tall task in beating the Dolphins in Miami. As always, the first order of business is Green Bay winning the rest of their games. However, Saturday’s slate of games helped the Packers tremendously.
Green Bay Packers Were Helped Tremendously By Four Teams Today
The Green Bay Packers currently sit in the 10th seed in the NFC. However, the three teams the Packers need to leapfrog all lost today. If Green Bay wins out, New York Times gives them a 76% chance to make the playoffs.
- 7th Seed: Washington Commanders (7-7-1)
- 8th: Seattle Seahawks: (7-8)
- 9th: Detroit Lions (7-8)
- 10th: Green Bay Packers (6-8)
The Packers will need to overtake the Commanders, Seahawks, and Lions over the last three weeks of the season. Today The Detroit Lions got manhandled by the Carolina Panthers 37-23. It was a surprising loss as Detroit has been red hot lately and the Panthers were sitting at 5-9. The win, however, did move the Panthers into a position to battle for the NFC South Crown.
The Seattle Seahawks went into Kansas City today to face Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. The Chiefs took care of business winning 24-10 against Geno Smith and the Seahawks. This loss moved Seattle to one game below .500 and within arms reach of the Packers should they win Christmas Day vs the Dolphins.
The Commanders had a tall task in going into San Francisco and beating the 49ers. The 49ers won 37-20, moving Washington to 7-7-1. This loss means that Green Bay needs Washington to lose just one of their final two remaining games. Those two games will come against the Cleveland Browns (6-9) and the Dallas Cowboys (10-5). Both of those games will be at home for the Commanders.
The Giants also lost today against the Minnesota Vikings. That loss moved New York to 8-6-1. If the Commanders don’t lose either of their two remaining games, the Packers could still sneak into the playoffs with the Giants losing their final two games. That would put the Giants at 8-8-1 to finish the season, and, if Green Bay wins out they would finish 9-8. The Giants final two games come against the Colts (4-9) in New York, and against the Eagles (13-1) in Philadelphia.
