Packers: Five Players Set to Have a 20+ Million Dollar Cap Hit in 2023

The Green Bay Packers have officially locked up start Cornerback Jaire Alexander.  Today he signed a 4 year, $84 Million Dollar extension with the Packers.  He now becomes the fifth player on the Packers roster that will have a $20,000,000 dollar cap hit in 2023.

The Five Players Who Will Have a Massive Cap Hit:

    • QB Aaron Rodgers: $31,623,570
    • LT David Bakhtiari: $30,128,014
    • DT Kenny Clark: $23,973,000
    • RB Aaron Jones: $20,013,000
    • CB Jaire Alexander: $20,000,000

The 2023 NFL Salary Cap is projected to hit a record $225 Million Dollars in 2023.  Still, having five players account for $127 Million Dollars (roughly 56% of the cap) will continue to restrict Green Bay in free agent targets.  I will likely take some restructuring to keep the band together another year, however not nearly as much restructuring as it took this off-season:

Super early Packers 2023 salary cap outlook:

If league cap increases $16.8M to $225M, Packers would be over the cap by about $21M after the draft ($31M by season start) – without free agents, extensions, restructures, etc.

The rising cap isn't outpacing the Packers backloading. pic.twitter.com/tl9KhObXGL
