The Green Bay Packers completed their first day of joint practice with the Cincinnati Bengals. They have one more practice with the Bengals before their first preseason game against them on Friday.
Overall, it was a solid day for the Packers as they faced off against another team for the first time in training camp. Some players performed well, while others struggled.
Here are the winners and losers from day one of the joint practice with the Bengals:
Packers/Bengals Joint Practice Day No. 1: Winners & Losers
Winner: Carrington Valentine
It appears that the Green Bay Packers have found a promising player in Carrington Valentine from this year’s draft. Valentine is showing that he could become a major draft steal this season. He has been consistently making impactful plays and has even been given significant playing time with the starters on defense. During team drills, Valentine held his own against Ja’Marr Chase, one of the NFL’s top wide receivers, after taking over Jaire Alexander‘s spot. If Valentine continues to impress, he may earn more playing time as a rookie this season.
Loser: Yosh Ninjman
Unfortunately, the Cincinnati Bengals’ Pro Bowl pass rusher Trey Hendrickson recorded seven sacks against the Packers’ offensive line. Most of those sacks were against Yosh Ninjman, who started at left tackle in place of David Bakhtiari. It was a rough day for him as Trey Hendrickson dominated him. Here’s one of the sacks Hendrickson had against Yosh.

It was a rough day for Yosh Ninjman on day one, but hopefully, he can bounce back.
Winner: Jordan Love
Jordan Love had a solid day on day one of joint practice. He had an interception on a screen pass and missed a couple of throws, but he improved as practice continued. His numbers on the day were 17-of-29 for two touchdowns and one interception. He threw a 60-yard touchdown to Romeo Doubs. Here are some of the clips of Jordan Love‘s day against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Jordan Love had both good and bad moments on day one of joint practice but aims to improve on day two.
Loser: Interior Offensive Line
The Packers’ interior offensive line struggled against the Bengals’ defensive front. They were getting very little movement in the run game and had difficulty picking up stunts. At times, they allowed a free rusher to put pressure on Jordan Love. The Bengals’ defensive line did get after the Packers’ interior offensive line. That group will look to make improvements on the second day of joint practice.
Winners: Romeo Doubs & Jayden Reed
Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed are developing good chemistry with Jordan Love. Reed was moving the chains in both 7v7 and 11v11 drills for first downs. He is expected to be a valuable asset to the Packer’s offense, likely the starting slot receiver. Doubs may challenge Christian Watson for the top wide receiver role on the Packers’ offense, as he consistently got open against the Bengal’s secondary. He made an impressive 60-yard touchdown catch on a perfect go route, making it the play of the day. Doubs is showing he’s poised for a breakout season.
Honorable Winner: No Major Injuries
On day one of joint practice, the Packers avoided major injuries and were almost at full strength except for Eric Stokes who is still on the PUP list. The Packers aim to have the roster at full strength by week one in September and hope to continue that on day two of joint practice and in the preseason game against the Bengals on Friday.
