There hasn’t been a three-week stretch this rough in the Matt LaFleur ever. The Packers‘ 23-21 loss vs the Washington Commanders marked the first three-game losing skid for the Packers since LaFleur took over. The offense has struggled to stay consistent so far this season. At times we have seen them move the ball up and down the field with no issues. Other times we see them go entire halves without scoring a single point. Many fans are begging the Packers to make a trade for a new wide receiver. Could it be possible they also trade away a wide receiver? An ‘obvious’ trade partner has been identified for struggling WR Amari Rodgers.
Amari Rodgers Trade to the Jacksonville Jaguars?
Zach Ragan proclaimed that the Jacksonville Jaguars would be the perfect trade destination for Amari Rodgers.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Jacksonville Jaguars were willing to give a seventh-round pick for Rodgers. That’s because Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was teammates with Rodgers at Clemson. And the two had a decent enough connection that Rodgers ended up being a third-round selection.
It seems like NFL teams love pairing wide receivers with their college quarterbacks these days (Joe Burrow/Ja’Marr Chase, Derek Carr/Davante Adams for example). Rodgers obviously isn’t on the level of either of those two wide receivers, but he still has a connection with Lawrence that could work in the NFL. It would be a low-risk move for the Jaguars and it would give Green Bay some breathing room (and an extra roster spot) to make a trade or two before the November 1 deadline.
Does He Have A Point?
While I don’t agree with the seventh round selection we would get in return, everything else makes a lot of sense. Amari Rodgers has struggled for the Packers so far in his career. Today marked the third time Amari Rodgers has has fumbled this season (happened on a punt return). It was the fifth fumble of his career. A change of scenery for him and an open roster spot for Green Bay could do both sides well. I would say pull the trigger if Green Bay could AT LEAST get a fifth round pick.
