Former Wisconsin Badgers running back Melvin Gordon has had a longer career in the NFL than most players at his position. The average NFL running back barely lasts three years in the league; Gordon is entering his ninth season. And while he had a down year with the Denver Broncos last season (318 yards on 90 carries), he feels like he still has gas left in the tank.
In order to prolong his NFL career, Gordon signed with the Baltimore Ravens this offseason. However, the Ravens are stacked at the running back position with JK Dobbins, Gus Edwards, and Justice Hill all listed on the depth chart ahead of Gordon.
Additionally, undrafted free agent running back Keaton Mitchell has been impressive in the Ravens’ preseason games. The amount of quality depth ahead of him plus Mitchell’s emergence has led many fans to believe that he will not make the final 53-man roster.
NFL Fans Do Not Think Former Wisconsin Badgers Running Back Melvin Gordon Will Make the Baltimore Ravens’ Roster

The Ravens lost last night (for the first time in 24 preseason games), but saw a great deal of promise from Mitchell, especially on this run:

Mitchell did leave the game early with a shoulder injury, but it was reported on social media this morning that it was just a stinger. He is still very much in play for a spot on the 53-man roster. And fans think he will get that sport over the former Wisconsin Badgers running back:
Who will pick up Melvin Gordon after he gets cut by the Ravens?

Keaton Mitchell > Melvin Gordon
And it ain’t close.
Cut Gordon, we’ve seen enough.

It certainly does seem like Gordon has an uphill battle to make the roster. If he is cut, there is no doubt he will search for another team to play for in 2023. The question is who will take him?
