Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a rough year in 2022. With Davante Adams being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, Rodgers took a step back, finishing with 3,695 yards and 26 touchdowns as Green Bay missed the playoffs.
Trade rumors have been swirling nonstop, and they will continue to float until Rodgers decides, which is supposed to come soon after his darkness retreat.
The New York Jets have been one team most commonly linked to Rodgers, and the Raiders have also been rumored to be interested in a potential Rodgers-Adams reunion.
Aaron Rodgers Took A Step Back In 2022
Nonetheless, questions remain about what Rodgers can bring to the table after a bit of a down year. One NFL scout gave an honest admission about Aaron Rodgers’ play this past season (h/t Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated).
“He hasn’t changed. He’s the same guy in terms of his play style. But his play has fallen off…The biggest piece is he just can’t move as well as he used to. That used to be – on top of being great at extending plays and having rare accuracy – he can’t do that anymore. And his arm has taken a dip. It’s not poor but it’s not what it used to be. So, he’s come down to earth a little bit. He’s human.”
It’s no secret that Rodgers has dipped down a bit, and at the age of 39, that is to be expected, especially from a quarterback. There is no doubt that several NFL teams will be interested in acquiring Rodgers, and he isn’t far removed from an NFL MVP win.
Nonetheless, there are questions surrounding what he can bring to the table and how long he will play in the NFL. The Aaron Rodgers rumors won’t be going away anytime soon, and we should have an answer relatively soon, hopefully.
