NFL rumors: A new-look Green Bay Packers side will be hoping to emerge out of Aaron Rodgers’ shadow this coming season. The four-time league MVP has done so much for the franchise over the past 17 years, and there’s no denying that he was the catalyst of Green Bay’s success through all those years.
It’s time to move on now, though, and one of the biggest questions that need to be answered is whether or not Jordan Love will be able to fill A-Rod’s void. It’s a gargantuan task for the young quarterback, and it goes without saying that he will need as many weapons as he can get in order to have a shot at the same.
NFL Rumors: Romeo Doubs Emerges as ‘Frontrunner’ as Packers’ WR2
The wide receiver race is heating up in Green Bay. Christian Watson is still widely expected to fill the WR1 role and he will be Love’s primary target in 2023. The WR2 position, on the other hand, has yet to be determined.
At this point, however, it appears that Romeo Doubs has pole position in the WR2 race. Team insider Wes Hodkiewicz of packers.com shed some light on this matter in a recent publication of his mailbag. According to Hodkiewicz, Doubs remains on track to secure the WR2 post:
“I think Doubs’ overall consistency is what makes him the frontrunner for WR2. Frankly, that’s what separates him as a receiver. Doubs’ chemistry with Jordan Love is also undeniable. Whatever happens, though, all three are going to play a lot for the Packers this season. Green Bay is counting on Doubs and Reed regardless of how they’re labeled in fantasy football circles,” Hodkiewicz wrote.
Jayden Reed could give Doubs a run for his money, but at the end of the day, it appears that the WR2 role is for Doubs to lose.
NFL Rumors: The Jordan Love Connection
As Hodkiewicz points out in his recent comments, Doubs’ “connection” with Jordan Love is an utmost consideration for head coach Matt LaFleur. The Packers have a lot invested in their young QB, and Green Bay will do everything in its power to put him in a position to succeed. If Doubs sets himself apart as a prime target for Love, then you can be sure that he’s going to figure significantly in Green Bay’s offense this coming season.
