NFL news: The Green Bay Packers aren’t expected to be a very good team this coming season. Well, at least not as good as they were last season when Aaron Rodgers was still at the helm. The Packers should still make some noise in the NFC North, but at this point, they’re not exactly title contenders.
Don’t tell that to incoming second-year defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt, though.
NFL News: Devonte Wyatt Puts NFL on Notice With Bold Declaration
Wyatt is not having any of the nonsense about the Packers being a weaker side than they were last season. As a matter of fact, Green Bay’s 2022 first-round pick is adamant that this squad is going to be even better than they were last term — or at least he believes their defense will be:
“I can tell you right now — this defense, we bringing more pressure, we attacking more and we ready to dominate more this year than last year,” Wyatt said, via Packers beat writer Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.
Wyatt just put the NFL on notice here. We shall soon find out if the 25-year-old and the rest of Green Bay’s defensive line will be able to live up to their outspoken tackle’s bold declaration.
NFL News: Big Things are Expected from Devonte Wyatt in Year 2
Devonte Wyatt did not exactly take the league by storm in his debut season. Simply put, he just did not have enough playing time to be able to show the football world what he’s truly capable of. This could all change this year, though, with the former University of Georgia standout expected to play a bigger role for the Packers in 2023.
Dean Lowry and Jarran Reed have both left Green Bay in free agency, which should open up more playing time for Wyatt. There’s obviously a lot of pressure on him already heading into Year 2 and his daring statement only adds even more expectations on this young man. Will he be able to deliver?
