All signs currently point to Mason Crosby kicking outside the Green Bay Packers organization. However, a recent interview seems to indicate there’s a chance in Crosby’s mind he could return to the Packers sideline this season.
The Packers drafted kicker Anders Carlson this April. He’s considered to be Crosbys’ replacement. Crosby sold his Wisconsin home after testing the free agency market. His wife, Molly, told Simone Biles that she and her husband’s time in Green Bay was up.
Mason Crosby is leaving open a return to the Green Bay Packers
Months later, Crosby is still a free agent just weeks before training camp starts. Crosby has been linked to the Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Jets. But he’s leaving open the possibility the Crosbys will stay in Green Bay.
According to a transcription by Rob Reischel with Forbes, Crosby told ESPN Wisconsin he couldn’t rule out being with the Packers this fall:
“And while it’s likely Crosby’s time in Green Bay is over, he’s quick to remind folks to never say never.
“Never count anything out in this game,” Crosby told ESPN Wisconsin this week. “Weird stuff happens every year and you never know. You never know what’s going to happen.”
The Packers have said they’re leaving the door open to Crosby. But as we saw with safety Adrian Amos last month, it will only stay open for so long.
Will the Dallas Cowboys sign Mason Crosby?
The Broncos moved from their long-time kicker Brandon McManus this offseason. They have brought in help, but the team could use a kicking competition this fall. Crosby has a connection to Denver. He played college football at Colorado.
His best fit seems to be with the Cowboys. Crosby is a native Texan. He was born in Lubbock and played high school football in Georgetown, TX. Naturally, Crosby grew up a Cowboys fan. The Cowboys have a good team, but they need kicking help.
Wouldn’t it be a feel-good story to see Crosby go out with the Cowboys if he can’t get a new deal with the Packers?
