Plenty of wideouts have graced Lambeau Field as members of the Green Bay Packers. However, not everyone gets the opportunity to leave a lasting impression on fans as Davante Adams did during his run in Wisconsin.
Adams had an incredible eight-year stint with the Packers, where he developed from a highly-rated wideout from Fresno State into one of the more consistent targets for Aaron Rodgers through the latter half of the 2010s. Now that Adams has requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders, many think he will reunite with his former quarterback in New York.
However, one of the latest trade rumors surrounding him has him ending up in the unlikeliest of destinations: back in Green Bay.
Green Bay Packers linked with trading for Davante Adams after WR wants out of Las Vegas
Fans are already curious with where the wideout will end up, but it makes sense that the Packers will want to get Adams back in their squad now that Jordan Love is blossoming into an elite QB that doesn’t lose to Rodgers’ production in Green Bay.
Per Heavy’s Max Dible:
ESPN’s Bill Barnwell published a piece on Tuesday, October 1, examining the handful of suitable suitors for Adams after both the three-time All-Pro wideout and his current team made it clear that they are ready to move on.
“You could understand the sentiment in wanting to bring back a franchise favorite given the youthfulness of Green Bay’s receiving corps and the injuries that have repeatedly befallen Christian Watson, with the most recent issue being a high-ankle sprain,” Barnwell wrote. “Re-acquiring Adams would take some of the load off the remaining receivers and provide the wide receivers room with a model from which to base their own growth.”
Swapping Watson for Adams is an upgrade for the Packers. It allows them to move on from Watson’s frequent injuries and secure a solid WR1 who can instantaneously make Matt LaFleur’s offense better.
Davante Adams caught 669 passes for 8121 yards and 73 TDs in his stint in Green Bay. He was also a reliable target, catching 66.1% of the passes thrown his way. Whether the Raiders would find a suitable package for Adams to send him back to Lambeau Field is an entirely different question, though.
