It is not a secret that former Wisconsin basketball star Sam Dekker is a big Milwaukee Brewers fan. That is why he is also one of the happiest people in the world on Wednesday when the Brewers pulled off a dramatic come-from-behind 5-3 win in Game 2 of their National League Wild Card Round Series against the New York Mets at home.
Milwaukee Brewers’ Jackson Chourio Reminds Sam Dekker of Giannis Antetokounmpo
Brewers rookie Jackson Chourio came through for his team in Game 2, as his booming home run in the eighth inning tied the score at 3-3. Before that, he also hit a home run in the first inning that leveled the score at 1-1. Garrett Mitchell made sure that Chourio’s huge performance wouldn’t go to waste as he smashed a two-run home run later in the eighth frame to put Milwauee in front for good.
Dekker, who played for Wisconsin basketball from 2012 to 2015, was left so impressed of how Chourio carried himself in the game that he compared the 20-year-old star with Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokoumpo.
“It’s weird to explain but Chourio has the same focused disposition as Giannis,” Dekker shared on X (formerly Twitter). “Just lasered in no matter what.”
Chourio, who slashed .275/.327/.464 and hit 21 home runs in the regular season, can add more to his growing legend this Thursday when the Brewers look to snatch a win in a winner-take-all showdown against the Mets.
