Former Green Bay Packers tight end Jace Sternberger is an unfortunate victim of the third-round curse. After being drafted by Green Bay, Sternberger had a hard time finding his way in the offense. An unfortunate mistake on his part led to his release from the team, and he eventually found himself out of the NFL altogether.
Jace Sternberger’s Green Bay Packers Career Ended Early

In his rookie season, Sternberger appeared in just six games and got one target. He did not make the catch. The next season, 2020, he caught 12 of the 15 passes thrown his way for 114 yards and a single touchdown.
Unfortunately, before the 2021 season began, Sternberger was arrested after being found asleep behind the wheel of his parked car. He was suspended for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy and Green Bay released him.
Sternberger bounced around on various practice squads, but has yet to appear in another NFL game.
Jace Sternberger Makes the All-USFL Team

Since he could not catch on with another NFL team, Sternberger signed on to play for the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL. He was recently named to the All-USFL team for leading the league in touchdown receptions.
Sternberger played in all 10 regular season games, catching 33 passes for 517 yards and seven touchdowns. The Stallions will be playing the USFL Playoffs this week as Sternberger looks to continue trying to impress NFL teams.
Of course, there are no guarantees that Sternberger can replicate the success he found in the USFL in the NFL. However, with training camp coming up at the end of July, he may get the opportunity to join a team to see what he can bring to the table.
