The Chicago Bears received disappointing information on the status of one of their starting wide receivers Sunday afternoon. The Bears will see a wide receiver they traded for start training camp on the PUP list.
The Bears had two starters at wide receiver, Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool, miss practices during OTAs this spring. Mooney and Claypool were seen working out with several members of the Bears’ offense this summer, including quarterback Justin Fields. It appeared as if both Mooney and Claypool would be back for training camp.
The Chicago Bears place Chase Claypool on the PUP list

However, per the NFL’s transaction wire, the Bears placed Claypool on the Physically Unable to Perform list to start training camp.
Chase Claypool’s status will be something to keep an eye on at training camp over the next few weeks. Looks like he’ll start on the PUP list. #Bears pic.twitter.com/NXrKzPwWmv

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said during OTAs the team expected Claypool to be back for training camp. Claypool missed practice this spring due to a soft tissue injury. The Bears could be taking extra precautions with Claypool before letting him be a full go at practice by letting him slowly ramp it up.
