NFL news: Aaron Rodgers and Allen Lazard go way back. They played the last five seasons together with the Green Bay Packers, and right now, both players are headed to their first year with the New York Jets following their summer move to the Big Apple.
Lazard knows Rodgers well, and apart from the fact that he’s going to be one of Rodgers’ wide receivers out on the field, the former is also going to be playing a crucial role in A-Rod’s transition with the Jets.
NFL News: Allen Lazard Believes He Can Speak for Aaron Rodgers

Lazard recently discussed the exodus of players in Green Bay and how a handful of them have now joined Rodgers in New York. According to Lazard, his experience playing alongside the four-time MVP will be one of the most important things he will bring to the table for the Jets.
“Having me, Randall, Billy [Turner, a tackle who played in Green Bay], even Adrian [Amos, a former Packers safety] and [former Packers running back Damarea] Crockett — guys that were in Green Bay and know the culture, know the standard and seeing what greatness looks like,’’ Lazard said Monday, via Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post. “When we’re having our individual meetings, Aaron’s not in there talking about this or that. But being in so many meetings with him and having experience with him on the field, we are able to speak for him as to what he would be thinking in certain situations.’’
Lazard intends to act as a glorified interpreter — one who will make sure that the message is not lost in translation.

Like Lazard, wide receiver Randall Cobb also followed Rodgers to New York. In a similar light, he too hopes to play an important role in the 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback’s objective of re-establishing himself as the top QB in the NFL with his new team:
“We’ve had opportunity to play with him for a long time, so we know what to expect, we know what he’s looking for,’’ Cobb said of himself and Lazard. “Playing with great quarterbacks like Tom Brady, they’re very particular in the way that they do things, the way they go about it and how to get to certain calls. And [us] being able to pass on that knowledge is going to be huge for us.’’
There are some massive expectations for Aaron Rodgers in his debut season in New York. Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb will play key roles for him on the field, but perhaps even more significant ones off of it.
