NFL: David Bakhtiari, Matt LaFleur, and the Green Bay Packers are looking to make a statement in 2023. Yes, a new era has been ushered in, however, they can still be successful with the weapons they have. Bakhtiari will certainly play a part in that success in 2023 if he is able to stay on the field. Health has been a concern of his over the last two seasons. Bakhtiari also missed Packers’ family night this past weekend which left fans concerned about his status going forward. Luckily, LaFleur addressed those concerns.
Matt LaFleur Addresses David Bakhtiari’s Status Going Forward (NFL)
The Packers have not identified a specific injury with Bakhtiari, but coach Matt LaFleur indicated on Saturday that this type of close management of Bakhtiari’s practice time most likely will just be a fact of life for Green Bay this season:
“This could be the case throughout camp, this could be the case throughout the season, in terms of the load we put on him,” La Fleur said. “We’ve just got to get him to Sundays.”
Bakhtiari missed six games last season. He did not play to start the season and had to miss various games throughout in order to stay healthy longer. Will he be able to play more in 2023? In answer to this question, Bakhtiari said:
“I feel really good. Obviously I don’t want to jinx it or oversell anything. But I think it will show up in how much I play.”
While not putting an actual number of games, Bakhtiari’s answer indicates that he expects to play much more in 2023. Many have assumed that this will be Bakhtiari’s last season in Green Bay. Many even thought he could be apart of the Aaron Rodgers trade to the New York Jets. David Bakhtiari proved once again in 2022 that, when healthy, he is still one of the best left tackles in the NFL. As it stands for now the starting quarterback’s blind side in Green Bay is in good hands.
