Jordan Love and the rest of the Green Bay Packers offense received punishment after the team’s first practice of the 2023 training camp. Love and the offense had their struggles during OTAs this spring. It appears much hasn’t changed since June.
Jordan Love missed open targets
According to multiple beat reporters, the defense came across the clear winner Wednesday. According to Andy Herman, Love missed open targets.
Luke Musgrave just beat Corey Ballentine clean and was open deep. Had great separation. Love lofted it up but let it hang a bit too much. Nice job by Ballentine to get back in the play and break it up but Love would like that one back.

Rookie tight end Luke Musgrave is struggling to learn pass protection. (Keep in mind, this is a non-padded practice.)
Luke Musgrave has been beat around the edge multiple times already. That one by Preston Smith for a would-be sack.

The Green Bay Packers offense received punishment
According to Matt Schniedman with The Athletic, the overall offensive performance was so bad that head coach Matt LaFleur had the offense doing push-ups after practice.

The Packers will need Love and the offense to get in sync quickly. Reports from OTAs were not promising this offseason. And quite honestly, Love needs to hit the freebies at this point in the year.

Love doesn’t have much time to get the young offense on the same page. The front office will be watching him intently at the beginning of the year to see how he leads his young receivers. Love is playing with two seasons on his contract. The team will have to make alternative plans if the offense can’t move the ball this season.
