The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears are set for a major showdown in Week 18 NFL action. With the NFL playoffs on the line for the Packers, taking care of business is crucial. However, the Bears would love nothing more than to ruin the season and eliminate Green Bay from playoff contention, even though they themselves have already been eliminated.
Amid the rough season and disappointment of being eliminated for the Bears, they are also trying to decide which direction to head in as a franchise.
Justin Fields has been rumored as a potential trade candidate this coming offseason. With the Bears holding the No. 1 overall pick, they could take either Caleb Williams or Drake Maye to be their new quarterback. That would allow them to trade Fields for more value.
NFL Insider Reveals Justin Fields Trade Value Before Green Bay Packers Matchup
According to the opinion of ESPN NFL Insider Jeremy Fowler, the Bears’ trade value for Fields is not as high as the team would like. In fact, it could hinder their interest in moving on from Fields and drafting a new quarterback.
“The consensus in an informal poll of league evaluators is that Fields would be worth a second- or third-round pick in a pre-draft trade.”
A second or third-round draft pick just does not seem like great value for the Bears. Fields may not be a proven star yet, but he certainly has the potential and talent to get to that level.
For the Green Bay Packers, another year of the Bears struggling at quarterback and finding a new potential rising star in Jordan Love is sweet revenge. Chicago fans could not stop making fun of Green Bay for trading Aaron Rodgers. Now, it appears that the Packers may have the last laugh.
Only time will tell whether or not the Bears choose to move on from Fields. It seems like low value and an early move to make with a quarterback who has shown flashes of big-time talent. But, it would be very Chicago like to make that kind of a move.
Make sure to tune in on Sunday to see if the Green Bay Packers can punch their playoff ticket against Fields and the Bears.
