NFL: The Green Bay Packers have quickly ushered in a new era for the organization. Over the course of one off-season, the Packers got significantly younger by moving on from multiple long-time veterans. Jordan Love now has the keys to the franchise and has been given a golden opportunity to take over one of the most historic sports franchises in North America. Today Ian Rapoport reported huge news regarding Jordan Love and the Packers.
Ian Rapoport: Green Bay Packers’ Jordan Love Has Shown “The Make-Up” Of Being A Franchise QB
Earlier today Ian Rapoport talked about the adversity he has faced early in his career and how much confidence the Packers have in him because of it:
The crazy thing to me about Jordan Love is over the last two off-seasons he has dealt with all the drama of Aaron Rodgers. He has watched it, he has lived it, he maintained a great relationship with Rodgers, the two are close. The two are STILL close.
He (Jordan Love) has been able to withstand this random start with COVID, got in last year also kind of random, and seems to have held up despite all the stuff. I would imagine make-up wise this is a guy the Packers believe in.
Jordan Love Has A Unique Start To His NFL Career
While it’s impossible to project if Jordan Love can rise to Rodgers’ level, the similarities between their careers don’t end at the timeframe in which they became starters for the Packers. Both didn’t see much action in the regular season prior to taking over.
Rodgers had only 85 passing attempts for 799 yards, one touchdown and one interception in seven games in his three years behind Brett Favre, while Love had around the same attempts but only 606 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions in 10 games.
Love’s lone start in 2021 wasn’t spectacular, either. He completed 19-of-34 attempts for 190 yards with one touchdown and one interception in a 13-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9. Love looked solid in relief of an injured Rodgers in Week 12 of this past season, completing 6-of-9 passes for 114 yards with a 63-yard touchdown to then-rookie wideout, Christian Watson. The Packers lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, 40-33.
