Earlier this offseason, former Green Bay Packers tight end Robert Tonyan signed as a free agent with the Chicago Bears. As it turns out, he will not be the only former Packers tight end playing for Chicago. Marcedes Lewis has signed a one-year contract with the Bears.
The #Bears are finalizing a deal with veteran TE Marcedes Lewis, per sources.

This will be his 18th NFL season, a record among NFL tight ends.
Fans React to Former Green Bay Packers Tight End Marcedes Lewis Signing with the Chicago Bears

As one might imagine, both Packers and Bears fans had plenty to say on social media when the deal was announced.
There are 3 thing certain in life, Death, Taxes, and Marcedes Lewis somehow playing football at the ripe age of 62 https://t.co/psGrP9FOlD

Ok Marcedes Lewis going to the Bears does hurt. I feel bad for our edge rushers who have to get crack backed by that dude over and over again.

Marcedes Lewis is so old, he had some of his college games at UCLA aired on TBS. What a career https://t.co/8g71PhWz6b

It’s the year 2023 and Marcedes Lewis and Jimmy Graham are both on an NFL roster, wild

I hate it, but the Bears feel like the perfect destination for Marcedes Lewis. He reunites with Luke Getsy and gets to play alongside Robert Tonyan again — they practically became brothers in Green Bay. He’s an incredible human and immediately becomes one of their best OL.

It certainly will be tough facing Lewis twice this season. As several Tweets above note, he is an incredible blocking tight end, even in his advanced age.
In addition to Tonyan and Getsy, Lewis joins other former Packers Equanimeous St. Brown and Lucas Patrick on the Bears.
The Packers both begin and end their regular season against Chicago.
One More Free Agent Remains

With Lewis off the market, just one more notable Packers free agent remains on the market: kick Mason Crosby. Sixth round draft pick Anders Carlson has been inconsistent in camp, though he was filmed drilling a 60-yard kick by Ryan Wood yesterday:

Crosby has not generated any interest on the free agent market, though if Carlson continues to struggle for Green Bay, the front office may choose to bring him back.
