The Green Bay Packers may have plenty of questions surrounding their offense, but one thing is certain: David Bakhtiari will be protecting Jordan Love’s blindside every Sunday. The three-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time First Team All Pro is finally healthy after a long recovery from a torn ACL he suffered in December of 2020.
After essentially missing the entire 2021 season, Bakhtiari was able to return for 11 games in 2022. He was as effective as ever, allowing no sacks the entire season.
Coming into 2023, Bakhtiari is the healthiest he has been in over two years. According to him, finally being healthy has made this training camp experience all the more enjoyable.
Green Bay Packers Left Tackle David Bakhtiari Is Having a Great Training Camp

Now that Bakhtiari has finally gotten his knee back to full strength, the Packers have one goal in mind when it comes to him: keep him healthy. One of the ways that they are trying to do that is by limiting how much he practices before the regular season. Head coach Matt LaFleur has stated that Bakhtiari will follow a set schedule that will include days off in order to keep him fresh.
And it sounds like he is enjoying it! When asked about camp so far in an interview with ESPN, Bakhtiari stated:
“The f—ing best camp I’ve ever had. It’s a joke, people here are starting to call me … the Lamborghini — only pull him out on Sundays.
“That’s almost what they’ve been doing with me. Just give me enough I need to get the engine running, make sure everything is fine, take her on the freeway a little bit and then put her back in the garage.”
But while he is enjoying being healthy, the motor on that Lamborghini does not like being shut down to rest:
“It f—ing sucks. I don’t enjoy doing [the rest days]. I’d like to let it loose and be with the fellas constantly. It’s best for the club and myself to get me ready for game days. That supersedes what I feel that I want.”
After Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets, many wondered if Bakhtiari, Rodgers’ long-time friend, would be as invested in the team’s success as he was in years past. One needs not look further than these comments to realize that those notions were unfounded.
As he was when Rodgers was the starting quarterback, Bakhtiari is the ultimate teammate. He is supportive, he is a leader, and he is willing to do anything for the good of the team, even if it is something he may not want himself.
It is going to be great to see a fully healthy David Bakhtiari out on the field again.
