NFL: The Green Bay Packers are nearly ready to commit to Jordan Love for the long term. The only thing left to see? Love start a full year under center and show the league he can be the third franchise quarterback in a row for the Packers. The incredible amount of turnover on offense this year has ushered in a new era. Robert Tonyan, Marcedes Lewis, Randall Cobb, and Allen Lazard will all be playing ball elsewhere in 2023. The stage is set for Luke Musgrave, Tucker Kraft, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Jayden Reed to take over. That being said, the Packers are extremely young in the skill position group and could certainly benefit from adding a young but proven wide receiver.
Green Bay Packers Land WR Jerry Jeudy From The Denver Broncos In This Massive Trade Proposal
According to a recent projection from Sports Illustrated, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is among one of ten star players who could switch teams before the start of the regular season:
For months, there has been talk of the Broncos moving on from one of their veteran receivers. That talk hasn’t calmed down with Denver selecting Marvin Mims of Oklahoma in the second round.
Maybe Denver decides not to make any subtractions. But if the Broncos are going to trade one of their established pass catchers, Jeudy would fetch the biggest return. And, after two years of lacking draft capital after the trade for quarterback Russell Wilson, general manager George Paton could see it as a necessary step.
By trading Jeudy, the Broncos would almost certainly net a top-50 pick while also saving $15.5 million over the next two years.
While the Packers seemingly have a bright future at the wide receiver position, however, Jeudy would make it elite.
What Would A Packers – Broncos Trade For Jerry Jeudy Look Like?
According to ESPN’s Jeff Legwold, the Broncos wanted a first-round pick in exchange for Jerry Jeudy last season when their season was imploding. It is likely that if Denver is still interested in shipping the 24-year-old wide receiver to a new team, that it would take similar draft compensation. This is our trade proposal:
Green Bay Packers Receive:
- WR Jerry Jeudy
Denver Broncos Receive:
- 2024 Conditional Second Round Draft Pick That Becomes A First If Aaron Rodgers Plays 65% of the snaps in 2023 (from NYJ)
- 2024 Third Round Draft Pick
In a draft (2024) where the Green Bay Packers are predicted to have three compensatory picks added, trading away two picks in the first three rounds seems like a steal for a player who could take their offense to the next level for years to come.
How Would Jerry Jeudy Fit With The Packers Offense? (NFL)
Coming off of a career season, Juedy has some value. He has two years remaining on his rookie contract, assuming his fifth-year option is exercised. As the only bright spot on the Broncos’ disastrous offense in 2022, the asking price is sky-high.
The Broncos are without a second-round draft pick in 2024. This trade would help them replenish their draft capital, which they sorely need to help add affordable depth to their roster.
Green Bay gets Jordan Love an experienced weapon to round out their wide receiver depth chart. Jeudy, Watson and Doubs are a solid young trio that Love could grow with for years to come. Adding him also enables the Packers to address other needs on the roster with the early-round picks they still own.
Parting with a future second-round pick doesn’t hurt Green Bay either. In the 2024 NFL Draft, they will be getting a second or first-round pick from the Jets depending on how many snaps Rodgers plays during the 2023 season.
